The First Luminous Mystery - The Baptism in the Jordan

Our Father

  1. John the Baptist proclaimed to the crowds: "I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, make straight the way of the Lord." (Jn 1:23)Hail Mary
  2. After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. (Mk 1:7)Hail Mary
  3. I baptize you with water for repentance . . . he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Mt 3:11)Hail Mary
  4. John saw Jesus coming toward him, and proclaimed, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (Jn 1:29)Hail Mary
  5. Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. (Mt 3:13)Hail Mary
  6. John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" (Mt 3:14)Hail Mary
  7. Jesus said to him in reply, "Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." (Mt 3:15)Hail Mary
  8. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him (Mt 3:16)Hail Mary
  9. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." (Mt 3:17)Hail Mary
  10. At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan(Mk 1:12-13)Hail Mary

The Second Luminous Mystery - The wedding at Cana, when Christ manifested himself

Our Father

  1. There was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there (Jn 2:1)Hail Mary
  2. When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." (Jn 2:3)Hail Mary
  3. And Jesus said to her, "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come." (Jn 2:4)Hail Mary
  4. His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." (Jn 2:5)Hail Mary
  5. Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. (Jn 2:6)Hail Mary
  6. Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. (Jn 2:7)Hail Mary
  7. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." (Jn 2:8)Hail Mary
  8. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from, the headwaiter called the bridegroom (Jn 2:9)Hail Mary
  9. He said to him: "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now." (Jn 2:10)Hail Mary
  10. Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. (Jn 2:11)Hail Mary

The Third Luminous Mystery - The Proclamation of the Kingdom

Our Father

  1. After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God (Mk 1:14)Hail Mary
  2. Through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (Jn 1:4-5)Hail Mary
  3. Jesus said: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel." (Mk 1:15)Hail Mary
  4. Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them . . . and he preached the word to them. (Mk 2:2)Hail Mary
  5. Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, some men opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down a mat on which a paralytic was lying. (Mk 2:4)Hail Mary
  6. "Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, pick up your mat and walk?'" (Mk 2:9)Hail Mary
  7. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth" he said to the paralytic, "I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home." (Mk 2:10-11)Hail Mary
  8. And Jesus called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. (Mt 10:1)Hail Mary
  9. Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them to make this proclamation: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand." (cf. Mt 10:5 & 7)Hail Mary
  10. Jesus breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." (Jn 20:22-23)Hail Mary

The Fourth Luminous Mystery - The The Transfiguration of our Lord

Our Father

  1. Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. (Lk 9:28)Hail Mary
  2. And Jesus was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light (Mt 17:2)Hail Mary
  3. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him (Mt 17:3)Hail Mary
  4. They spoke of Jesus' exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem. (Lk 9:31)Hail Mary
  5. Then Peter said to Jesus "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." (Mt 17:4)Hail Mary
  6. As he said this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud (Lk 9:34)Hail Mary
  7. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my chosen Son; listen to him." (Lk 9:35)Hail Mary
  8. Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them. (Mk 9:8)Hail Mary
  9. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus told them not to relate what they had seen to anyone, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead (Mk 9:9)Hail Mary
  10. So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what rising from the dead meant (Mk 9:10)Hail Mary

The Fifth Luminous Mystery - The Last Supper, when our Lord gave us the Eucharist

Our Father

  1. On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?" (Mt 26:17)Hail Mary
  2. Jesus said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, the teacher says, 'My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.'" (Mt 26:18)Hail Mary
  3. When the hour came, he took his place at table with the apostles. He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer." (Lk 22:14-15)Hail Mary
  4. And while they were eating, he said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." (Mt 26:21)Hail Mary
  5. Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" (Mt 26:25)Hail Mary
  6. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." (Mt 26:26)Hail Mary
  7. Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins." (Mt 26:27-28)Hail Mary
  8. As often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. (1 Cor 11:26)Hail Mary
  9. "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." (Jn 6:51)Hail Mary
  10. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. (Jn 6:54)Hail Mary<
